Lexul Field Service was originally designed around the needs of the construction industry trades. Recently, we were approached by a landscaping company on the east coast that saw a lot of similarities between their business challenges and the challenges we have solved in the construction industry —this included:
- Quality Control through Inspections
- Foreman/Crew Time Tracking
- Detailed QuickBooks Enterprise Integration
In early tasks with them, we identified the need to enhance our invoicing capabilities as their customer’s preferred monthly billing for the prior month’s services.
Summary Invoicing

While our existing system supported one invoice per work order and progress-based billing, we found that many customers prefer receiving a single invoice each month—despite multiple service visits, as is common in the landscaping space..
With our new Summary Invoicing feature, you can now complete multiple jobs for a customer throughout the month, apply pricing using contract-specific rules or manual adjustments, and hold those charges for a consolidated invoice. You can also set a cutoff date, making it easier to generate clean, monthly invoices—even if you’re running a bit behind.
This helps follow our model of always providing what the customer needs – whether that’s info on the Work Order or a method of billing.
After rolling out Summary Invoicing, we worked with the customer through onboarding. In the onboarding process, we identified a few further enhancements that we could make in order to better service our customer and this space. Lexul Field Service undergoes constant enhancement to bring true automation to our customers.
Cloning Contract Templates
We’ve made setting up and managing contracts even easier. With Lexul Field Service, contracts are customer-specific, giving you full control over work orders and contract details. However, we know that many landscaping contracts follow a similar structure, and creating them from scratch each time can be time-consuming.
To streamline this process, we’re introducing the capability to copy an existing contract and use it as a template for a new one—whether it’s for a different customer or for the next contract year. This means faster setup and simplified annual contract updates. Need to create a contract for 2026? Just copy the customer’s 2025 contract, make the necessary adjustments, and you’re ready to go.
This enhancement saves time and ensures consistency across contracts.
Season Specific Scheduling
Previously, our recurring work order system allowed you to set a single start date for all services and define their frequency. Multiple frequencies were supported but they all had the same start time. But in landscaping, different services happen at different times of the year—spring cleanups in April, summer mowing, fall cleanups, and more.
With this update, you can now set individual start and end dates for each recurring service. This means greater flexibility and season-specific scheduling—ensuring the right services happen at the right time, without extra manual adjustments.
Contract Grouped Services
Landscaping often involves multiple service types—like mowing, flower bed maintenance, and seasonal cleanups—which can be performed by different crews at different frequencies. Previously, all services under a single contract were grouped together, making it challenging to manage when particular services are performed by specific people.
With enhancements to grouping contract services, you can now organize services into separate work orders based on service type. This means mowing crews can receive their own work orders, while flower bed maintenance crews get separate ones—all while staying under the same customer contract.
